VELUX Modular Skylights Installed in a Hotel and Conference Center
Located on the Danish island of Bornholm, Green Solution House is a hotel and conference center designed around circular sustainability principles. The building incorporates innovative daylighting, renewable energy, and recyclable materials to demonstrate how sustainable design can support building performance and occupant comfort.
As part of its ambitious sustainable building strategy, Green Solution House features 196 VELUX Modular Skylights (VMS) in a Ridgelight configuration, bringing natural daylight into the building's central atrium and interior courtyard.

Integrating Daylight into Sustainable Building Design
At the Green Solution House, every building component contributes to circular sustainability. The entire building complex is designed around the Active House vision, inspired by the cradle-to-cradle life cycle concept, and certified to the high standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
Sustainability is the driving attraction for this building––and natural daylight is central to Green Solution House's architectural design. To maximize daylight in the building's large interior courtyard and atrium, the project incorporates 196 VELUX Modular Skylights in a Ridgelight 25–40° configuration. The dual-pitched skylight design creates an expansive glazed roof area, bringing daylight into the central atrium and strengthening the building's connection to the outdoors.

In addition to providing natural light, 68 of the skylight modules feature integrated photovoltaic (PV) cells that generate renewable electricity while providing solar shading. Covering 98 m², the photovoltaic glazing produces approximately 7,077 kWh of electricity annually.
