Let's Talk No Leak

INSIDER NEWS

The biggest thing that sets VELUX apart from other skylight companies is what we named our warranty after: our skylights do not leak.

The Origin of the No Leak Skylight

Way back in 1941 in Denmark, VELUX's founder, Villum Kann-Rasmussen, set out to engineer a roof window that was built to last and would not leak, even after years of use. The rationing put on building materials due to World War II didn't make it easy, but with enough ingenuity, creativity, and improvisation he designed a roof window with wood framing, zinc cladding, and condensation drains to avoid dripping.

Over the years, he and other VELUX engineers experimented and improved on Rasmussen's original model, leading to the over 2000 daylighting patents and designs VELUX has today. And they've all been created with that original key goal in mind: that they don't leak.

The Details of the No Leak Promise

One of the biggest reasons homeowners hesitate to install skylights is because they're worried they'll leak. Explaining VELUX's commitment to leak-free skylights, as well as the details of our No Leak Promise, can help you make that sale.

At VELUX, we believe the best guarantee is the one you never have to use. That's why we build quality into every product. But for peace of mind, we do offer the industry-first 10-year No Leak installation warranty. This covers correct skylight and appropriate flashing installations (product and labor) against leaks.

Additionally, we offer the VELUX 20/10/5 years limited product warranties for specific product coverage issues. There's also a 10-year hail breakage warranty for VELUX skylights that feature Clean, Quiet & Safe glass.

You can find even more details on each warranty with the VELUX Warranty PDF.
