After all, when you're creating (or recreating) the perfect home, you want to be able to stand behind the products you use 100%. Otherwise, how could you ensure a reliable, sturdy home?
The VELUX Brand
Whether you're new to VELUX products or have worked with our skylights, roof windows, and sun tunnels for decades, we think it's important to know the thought process behind the brand we've worked to build since 1942.
It all started over 75 years ago when our founder, Danish engineer Villum Kann-Rasmussen, wanted to build a better roof window - one that was easy to operate, did not leak, and was reliably built with ethically sourced materials. He wanted to create this roof window to bring daylight and fresh air into homes all over the world in order to help create healthy, energy-efficient places to live, work, and play.
And to this day, that's what we continue to do.
VELUX Values
As the company expanded, Villum Kann-Rasmussen wanted to ensure the values that VELUX was built on remained a core part of our business. So, in 1965, he formulated our Model Company Objective that still guides our way of doing business today:

VELUX: The Brand You Prefer
Now that you're caught up on the VELUX brand and our values, it's time to get back to the topic at hand.
Every two years, REMODELING Magazine releases its brand-use study to determine the brands remodelers are most familiar with, use most often, and have the highest overall quality for various product categories.
This year, the Farnsworth Group, which conducts the study, collected 1,493 responses from magazine and newsletter recipients who identified as professional remodelers. Roughly 17% of these remodelers do some new construction, but as the magazine title implies, the majority of these responses are from those who work exclusively on existing housing.
So, when it came to the Skylights/Roof Windows/Tubular Skylights section of the Windows Category, what brand did remodelers choose?
That's right: the most familiar and often used brand, along with the brand with the highest overall quality, is VELUX!
