VELUX's newest course, Emerging Top Daylight Strategies, is available online through The Continuing Architect, a division of the AIA. In this popular course, topics discussed include emerging top daylighting technologies and improved solutions, as well as the challenges within current daylight applications. The course focuses on the best application practices and utilizing technological advancements with monument and architectural skylights, unit skylights, and tubular daylighting devices (Sun Tunnels®).

In Emerging Top Daylight Strategies, you'll also discuss the important benefits of essential energy codes. What's more, you'll learn how to use those codes to produce energy-efficient daylighting designs within aesthetically pleasing, high-quality spaces.

Top Daylighting: A Circadian Health and Wellness Perspective

Also available through The Continuing Architect is the AIA-approved course, Top Daylighting: A Circadian Health and Wellness Perspective. In this course, you'll learn how scientific research and emerging medical discoveries illustrate that top daylighting design strategies produce positive biological responses that positively impact employee health and well-being. You'll also examine how exposure to dynamic daylight through skylights provides all the biologically relevant criteria for positive circadian system impact.

This course is especially helpful for architects and builders who work in the commercial sector and are interested in building even more sustainable offices, warehouses, health care facilities, schools, and retail spaces.

Offered online through Hanleywood University, the Benefits of Daylight and Fresh Air in Residential Design course is a must for those looking to incorporate skylights into their home designs.

Throughout this course, you'll learn how skylights can contribute to a home, including how they can provide benefits to homeowners via natural ventilation, daylight, and energy efficient designs. This course also reviews the cause and effects of moisture intrusion and discusses how fiber cement panels can be used as a rainscreen to mitigate moisture. Upon completing this course, you should be able to identify the thermal comfort parameters that help evaluate and measure a pleasant environment, as well as how skylights can help contribute to overall energy-efficient home designs.
