Solar Tax Credit Changes in 2021
Unfortunately, the laws that enacted the federal solar tax credit put a limit on how long this credit would last. From 2009 to 2019, the federal solar tax credit was 30% of product cost and installation. This year, the credit dropped to 26%. And next year, we'll see another drop to 22%.
In other words: the time to act is now!
Go Solar products installed this month will still earn homeowners a 26% credit when they file their taxes. Go Solar products installed in 2021 will earn you a 22% credit during the next tax season.
After 2021, unless the credit is renewed by Congress, it will go away altogether. So get in touch with your local VELUX installer and act sooner rather than later!
